Well, only because Famous Person said so...

Posted on Fri, 10/03/2008 - 10:49am by Marianne Eagan
So I was pretty sure that Sarah Palin did an exceptional job during the debate last night--an exceptional job at making sure that every question could be related back to the two topics that she knows anything about: taxes and energy.

But then my brother sent me this ad and all that changed:

Apparently, she killed last night.
And Famous Person said so.
That's enough for me! I don't even care which famous person. As long as someone out there who may or may not be in the public eye thinks she did a good job, I'm totally on board.

Thanks, McCain, for once again overestimating just how dumb we really are.

UPDATE: The Washington Post blog "The Trail" just wrote this about the ad. Apparently Peggy Noonan actually said it.

What is wrong with these

What is wrong with these people!?

I mean, if Not-So-Famous

I mean, if Not-So-Famous Person had said it, I wouldn't have cared. But Famous Person? I'm sending my $5 check in.

This is a redux of the first

This is a redux of the first debate, where webads saying 'McCain wins' started showing up before the debate. This is the same thing--obviously they'd mocked up ads with filler text, and just forgot to remove the placeholder before putting them up. Valiant effort by the campaign people to not make it seem like another case of premature victory-claiming, but who's going to buy that the McCain campaign intentionally would attribute a quote to 'Famous Person'?
