Start: 1:00 pm
End: 4:30 pm
Location: Sever Hall It's not too late! Even if you didn't sign up, you can still come! Are you involved with community service but have qualms about political campaigning? Are you a campaign veteran looking for a broader skill base? Do you want to change the world, but aren't sure how? Want to be a part of something bigger than yourself? Come and learn practical skills for how to be an effective agent of change, share ideas and perspectives on social change, and debate how best to integrate the realms of social and political methods of progress. You don't have to be a Democrat. You don't have to do community service. You just have to care about making the world better. The Skills Summit is Sunday -- it'll bring together numerous political, community service, advocacy, cultural, and media groups to share with us (and students from several Boston-area schools) the skills you need for social change. Workshops and seminars already confirmed include: debate and impromptu speaking skills; diversity outreach; creative leadership; fundraising and grant-writing; community organizing; social entrepreneurship and social change; and new media, among many others. There'll be a keynote address by 2006 IOP Fellow Alan Khazei (founder of City Year), two workshops, a panel discussion, and finally a “Big Question”-led pizza forum posing the question: “Making Change: Inside or Outside the System?”. Be sure to come out. This is going to be fun.

Start: 4:30 pm
End: 6:30 pm

Location: Somewhere On Campus, Probably Hey! Our executive board meetings are open to anyone who wants to come. We usually don't know where they are until roughly the day before or the day of (this is the product of a longstanding Quad-Mather feud, which MATHER WILL WIN EVENTUALLY), so if for whatever reason you want to check it out email me and I'll give you all the requisite info. Minutes are also a matter of record; I can give you copies of minutes for any board or general meeting going back to November, or possibly earlier if they're filed someplace. (Warning: all minutes from after November are taken by me, which means they're probably very profane and contain no useful information.) Seriously, though, come to the board meeting. Your input would be valued, since groupthink tends to mess up our decision-making process. Also we're bored and we want company. (Get it? "Bored"? Ha ha! I slay myself.)
