Did Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) just invoke Richard Nixon? Wow.

  2. Eva Lam says:

Dave Camp (R-MI): “We’ve heard a lot of discussion tonight…” Understatement of the day.

  3. Eva Kirilova says:

when the hellllllll is this gonna end?

  4. Eric Hysen says:

Woah – have we not seen Alan Grayson’s tie until now?

  5. Eva Lam says:

Boehner: “No, you can’t!” Damn. I’ve had it backwards all along.

  6. Eric Hysen says:

This is the most awkward call-and-response ever.

  7. Eva Lam says:

John Boehner’s head is actually going to explode.

  8. Jelle Zijlstra says:

    Boehner is getting desperate.

  9. JP says:

Boehner, like to yell for no apparent reason. The Roll Call vote is bit over the top…

  10. Evelyn says:

    MELODRAMA ALERT:

John Boehner: “I rise today with a heavy heart…” whaaaa whaaaa death of bipartisanship, people won’t stop making fun of my orange face whaaa whaaa

as my dad repeatedly said this weekend (in a very cute vaguely baffled tone) “how can they expect bipartisanship when the only word they ever said was NO?”

Uh-oh now he’s yelling!! and everyone is yelling!!

i can’t tell if he a red or orange anymore

I love the smackdown by the speaker pro-tem (in a weak and feeble voice):

“both sides would do well to remember the dignity of the house”

  11. Eric Hysen says:

Wasn’t Boehner only supposed to have one minute?

  12. Eric Hysen says:

    Obey is getting pissed.

  13. Eva Lam says:

Dave Obey FTW: “The chair will decide at the time the request is made. This is not it.”

  14. JP says:

I love Obey – “rhetorical question?”

“The People’s House” is a bit old. Though, I think a $2400 contribution is required to qualify for their ideal of what a person is…

  15. Evelyn says:

    I LOVE DAVID OBEY!!

    seriously want his children.

“the speaker will consider the request at the time it is made. this is not it.”

    :D

  16. Eric Hysen says:

Did Boehner really just say we need to slow down?

  17. JP says:

“Shame on us.” Hmm, it seems that it should be shame on you Mr. Boehner for once again wearing way too much makeup…

“We break our thrust with America,” is that a euphemism for something? (btw, that’s what she said…)

  18. JP says:

Here comes Nancy for the win!

  19. Eric Hysen says:

Is the Republicans’ new delaying tactic to never stop clapping?

  20. Evelyn says:

    I LOVE HER!!

seriously, she kicks so much ass

  21. Eva Lam says:

    “I yield one minute.”

  22. JP says:

you gotta love the dichotomy that is going on hear. dems: humility and pride – making history. repubs: arrogance – breaking the chain of lawgivers. two completely different conversations…

  23. Eva Lam says:

Someone just tried and failed to start a “Fired up, ready to go” chant. Oops.

  24. Evelyn says:

Eva and I have decided she must be exhausted, especially given that she lobbied personally every one of the 68 members who needed to be flipped or bolstered that the whips gave her. and yet, in true pelosi fashion, she looks great — not a hair out of place

  25. Eva Lam says:

“All politics is personal.” Shout-out to the second wave. I like it.

  26. JP says:

Tip O’neil! Perhaps the greatest speaker. Maybe only beaten by Sam Rayburn… Pelosi is right up there…

  27. Eva Lam says:

“The great unfinished business of society – until today.” I hope Teddy is happy.

  28. Evelyn says:

    I love Nancy Pelosi’s awkward giggles…

  29. Evelyn says:

I get goosebumps when I think of what Teddy would think.

    God bless him

  30. Evelyn says:

    15 minutes!

  31. Eva Lam says:

CSPAN commentator: “216 votes is the number needed for package… passage.”

  32. Jelle Zijlstra says:

    216! It passed.

  33. Eva Kirilova says:

    party in the USA!

  34. Evelyn says:

    Finally.

    Thank god.

  35. Eric Hysen says:

    fivethirtyeight: Ballgame. A really long, horribly-played, rain-delayed, 14-inning ballgame.

  36. Eva Lam says:

Bart Stupak (D-MI): Stop telling people to recommit in support of the Stupak amendment. I am Stupak.

  37. Evelyn says:

    Here’s to breaking history!
