Dear recently admitted Harvard students,
It was lovely hosting you at Harvard this past weekend, and we of the Harvard College Dems sure hope you had a nice time.
When asking what the Harvard Dems do, a number of you looked puzzled when we replied that among many other activities, we campaign. ”But whom could you possibly campaign for now that Obama has been elected?” you asked. Your inquiry inspired this post.
Prefrosh Lesson # 1: Use of Wikipedia
Once just a site you used to prove your friends and family wrong about things you thought might be true, Wikipedia will soon become your best friend at Harvard. P-set problems? No problem. Type a key word from your p-set into Wikipedia and voila! You find an equation, definition, or explanation that will greatly aid you in your pursuit of economic, scientific, and mathematical knowledge. Straight A’s, here you come.
Is politics your thing? No longer spend your days worrying about who you’re forgetting to campaign for. You can check out what Senate races are coming up, what House races to work on, and even which 2010 gubernatorial races suit your fancy.
Once you’ve become a veteran at finding the shortcuts for getting your school work done here at Harvard, you will realize that the majority of your Harvard education ($52,000 or so next year) could have cost you the price of one laptop + wireless internet connection.
But don’t fret over that extra $50k, the one thing Wikipedia can’t summarize in a more user-friendly way is the experience you’ll have with the Harvard College Dems.
Yours truly,
The Dems
